PURPOSE:To switch start of dehumidifying operation of an outdoor heat exchanger at the time of heating according to an operating state of a compressor. CONSTITUTION:The dehumidifying operation controller for an air conditioner comprises temperature detecting means (temperature detector 1e, etc.) for detecting a temperature of an outdoor heat exchanger 1d, and deciding means (timer 1h, a deciding unit ..k, etc.) for deciding whether a compressor 1a at the time of heating is a continuous or intermittent operation. When the continuous operation is decided by the deciding means, a dehumidifying operation is started as a temperature of an outdoor heat exchanger becomes a dehumidifying starting temperature or lower at the time of predetermined continuous operation. When the intermittent operation is decided, the dehumidifying operation is started at a predetermined intermittent operation time dehumidifying starting temperature set to higher than the continuous operation time dehumidifying starting temperature. In both the operations, the dehumidifying operations are finished when the temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger is a predetermined dehumidifying finishing temperature or higher.
