PURPOSE:To exchange ink ribbons always correctly and prevent a waste of the ink ribbon and defective printing unable to be checked by calculating the usable term of the ribbon and taking such measures as displaying the time of next ribbon exchange. CONSTITUTION:The number of printing units per unit term is calculated by a calculation means 13 based on the days of operation of an apparatus and the number of printing units which are counted respectively by counting means 12, 11. Besides, the limit of an ink ribbon, the marginal number of printing units, is stored in a memory means 14. The usable term of the ribbon is calculated by a calculation means 15 based on the number of printing units per unit term and the marginal number of printing units of the ribbon. Moreover, when the ribbons are exchanged, the time of next ribbon exchange is calculated by a calculation means 16 base on the usable term of the ribbon and the present date. The calculated time of next ribbon exchange is displayed by a display means 17. |
