In the centre of the wheel chair, at equal distance from its front and rear ends, is a vertical column, raisable and lowerable by means of hydraulic or corresp. force, and fitted in the chair running gear with its upper end. In its highest position the column supports the wheel chair above the ground. A transmission arrangement, with earlier known technique, causes the wheel chair to turn around the column. A gearing couples the wheel chair one hand crank from the corresp. rear wheel to the transmission arrangement, which is so disposed that for the force which in the travel position drives the wheel chair the column is caused to extend, with the chair rotation around it under the full control of the user. The column is so drawn together that it does not impede the chair movement on the ground. |
