The tobacco blend is used in the manufacture of cigarettes. The medicinal herb additive gives a flavour to the tobacco and reduces its noxious effect, also acquiring therapeutical effect. The blend consists of finely cut tobacco to which pieces up to 1 mm in size of roots of elecampane are added in quantities from 3 to 5 wt.%. The herb attributes fine flavour and aroma to the tobacco smoke, like that of natural gum, and the therapeutical effect is due to the ability of the essential oils in the elecampane to cure bronchitis, including TB.
