The mechanism is used for riding a bicycle. It has more compact and reliable design for the driving mechanism, transmitting a more even rotative motion of the driving unit. It consists of a frame (1) to which a driving shaft (2) is mounted with three dephased crank pins (6, 7 & 8) at 120° positioned from each other. By means of bars (9) the crank pins (6, 7 & 8) are connected to three lever mechanisms (10) having a ratchet mechanism (12). The ratchet mechanism (12) has a ratchet pin (13) with three teeth which are in contact with the teeth of the ratchet wheel (14). The ratchet mechanism (12) rests on a shaft (15) driven through a shaft (23). By means of a reducer (17) the rotative motion is transmitted to the hollow shaft (23) and thence - to the driving wheel (24) of the bicycle.
