The present invention comprises a bilayer, pharmaceutical tablet having one layer formulated for the immediate release (IR) of ranitidine and a second layer formulated for sustained release (SR) of ranitidine with the ratio of ranitidine in the IR layer to that in the SR in the range of from about 30:70 to about 60:40.
