Lead@-acid battery plate set

A set of plates for a lead-acid accumulator includes positive (8) and negative plates (9) separated by a layer (1) folded in zigzag fashion. The whole set is compressed together. On the end plates of the set, the separator wraps around by 10 to 30 %, but preferably 15%. This amounts to about 20 mm. The depth of this overlap is at least twice the plate thickness. Suitable material for the separator is polythene. The compression is done during manufacture by rollers.
