Sulphidic pigments and/or fillers, and/or pigments or fillers contaminated with sulphide sulphur (I), are surface-treated with 0.01-5.0 wt.% metal soap(s) contg. metal ions of the H2S or (NH4)2S gps. (II). Also claimed is a process for the surface treatment of (I), by mixing (II) with an aq. suspension of (I) and drying the mixt., or by mixing (II) with dry (I).
