A process is claimed for dyeing polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTMT) fibres with aq. dispersion dyes at or below the b.pt. of the dye bath. The unpressurised, carrier-free process comprises: (a) starting at 20-50 deg C, (b) increasing the bath temp. within 20-90 (pref. 45) mins. to the b.pt. or to a temp. /}20 deg C below the b.pt., (c) continuing dyeing at this temp. for /-20 (pref. 30-90) mins., and (d) cooling to 20-50 deg C, pref. at 1 deg C/min., so that /-95 wt.% of the dye is absorbed by the fibres and the dye penetrates to a depth of /-5% of the fibre dia..
