The cassette (6) is inserted into a cassette retainer (4), in which is located a flat, semiconductor image converter (7) on the inner side of the radiation inlet wall (8), with the converter covering the radiation inlet wall only partly. Pref. the image converter, together with the associated electronic system, is arranged in the cassette, which is slidable in the retainer. The image converter may be clocked only before the imaging start up to imaging fo some scanning cycles and read-out of the image. After i?????????? object (2) thickness the cassette displacement is motor controlled so that the object centre in both projections lies in the image centre of the converter.
