Magnetic tape cassette drive with tapered winding mandrels

The magnetic tape cassette player holds a tape cassette with tape spools (13) having central apertures (13a) in which drive mandrels (5) engage. The latter have distributed ribs (17) on their periphery (15) which interlock with follower mandrels (13b) on the cassette spools. The ribs (17) on the drive mandrels are of differing width at the forward ends (5e) and taper from the base upwards, and are of conical profile at the tip (5e).
