Brake system for vehicle and trailer

The vehicle and trailer are fitted with a towbar sensor to monitor the force on the towbar coupling. Wheel speed sensors on the towing vehicle and on the trailer monitor the variation in wheel speed before- and during braking and enable a correction control to be applied to minimise the braking force on the tow coupling. This force is controlled wrt. the speed. Two control blocks (1, 2) monitor the vehicle- and trailer brakes and derive mean values via processing blocks (3, 4). The outputs from the blocks are compared to generate difference signals (5) which are processed via a time delay circuit and produce modulating signals for the separate brakes.
