A break contact block (1, 1') consists of two identical half-housings (10) having chambers formed by partitions (14) to accept bridge-like contacts (4) and appropriate springs (15). Two foot sections (11, 12) with differently arranged projections (24, 25) make it possible to obtain a smaller (S1) or a greater distance (S2) depending on the relative setting of two half-housings (10) to be joined together. This makes it possible to produce break contact blocks (1, 1') for thinner or thicker busbars using identical components.
