Car parking system with overlapped sections of conductor rail

A pair of running rails (14) extends over the entire width of a number of parallel fixed parking spaces (12) into which cars are driven one by one from traversers (16). The power supply for the traversers is taken from conductor rails (18, 20) divided into sections (18a, 18b etc.) which overlap (18d, 18e) pref. by the width of one parking space. The sections may be supplied from different phases of a three-phase supply and connected in turn to the neutral line. The length of the system may exceed 30 m.
