Purification of combustible gas contg. e.g. mercury and hydrogen sulphide

Purification of an essentially O2-free combustible gas contg. H2S, Hg, dioxines and furans among others comprises: (a) passing the gas at at least 100 deg C. through an adsorber to completely separate the H1S, Hg, dioxines and furans; (b) regenerating the charged adsorbent; (c) oxidising the desorption gas produced on regeneration to form SO2; and (d) feeding the oxidised desorption gas into an appts. to produce H2SO4, that runs at a temp. that destroys dioxines and furans and separates the Hg.
