The compressor has location of the compressor shaft via one or more hybrid roller bearings. The compressor design encompasses a turbo, and is a radially compressing turbocompressor operating at speeds between 300 and 2000 rps. The hybrid bearing comprises steel rings in which ceramic or other non-magnetic rollers are located, these have permanent self-lubrication enabling increased speed operation. This arrangement avoids contamination of the cryogenic medium.
