The seat has a forward cushion section (14) adjacent to the door and which, depending upon use conditions, can be lowered. The seat also has a pivot (10) rotating about a vertical axis (9). The imaginary axial extension of the vertical axis intersects the seat base (3,4) at a point which is displaced towards the centre of the vehicle by a quarter of the width and three quarters of the length from the seat cushion forward edge (11).
