A device for the gas-jet cutting of materials comprises a head (1) housing a jet (2), a gas generator with combustion chamber (3) and precombustion chamber (4), a passage (5) for supplying fuel with the possibility of delivering the latter tangentially with respect to the walls of the gas generator, a passage (7) for supplying oxidant, communicating by means of channels (8, 18) with combustion chamber (3) and precombustion chamber (4), and an igniter (10). The diameter of the combustion chamber (3) is greater than that of the precombustion chamber (4). The fuel passage (5) is connected to the precombustion chamber (4), which is connected directly to the combustion chamber (3). Channel (8) for supplying oxidant to the combustion chamber (3) has the form of an annular manifold delivering oxidant to zone (9) adjacent to the inner wall (6) of combustion chamber (3). Fuel delivery jets (11) are located around the periphery of the precombustion chamber (4), and the igniter (10) is located in the small diameter region of said precombustion chamber (4).
