The appts. passes digital data (12) to an amplifier (14) with a lineariser (16). A command unit (UC) controls the transmitter and the amplifier. An output switch (20) is controlled by the command unit and can switch between the output antenna (10) and a load impedance (20). The command unit switches the output power to the matching load impedance during the linearisation phase.
