The technique involves carrying out measurements in both angle of site and azimuth for each received wave. The received wave is broken down into a first ordinary right hand circularly polarised wave, and a second extra-ordinary left hand circularly polarised wave. Two histograms are constructed for distance and angle of site for each of the two components of wave associated with the ordinary and extra-ordinary wave propagations. From the histograms it is possible to calculate both the global distance and location of the transmitter.
