A preformatted substrate is claimed that can be used for the fabrication of master and/or optical discs of the type that consists of a support (1) coated with a layer (2) of resin essentially with≥1 constraint. The layer (2) incorporates on its surface a first succession of micro-grooves or first track (4) representative of the preformatting signal. The depth of these microgrooves or this first track (4) is less than the thickness of the layer (2) of resin. The method of fabricating the preformatted substrate incorporating information to be duplicated and the method of fabricating a master disc and/or an optical disc are also claimed.
