The receptacle (2) that holds the lens material (1) is provided with an axial surface and two centring edges, all turned on the same precision lathe as the lens itself. Side A is worked to create the lens surface, centring edge and seating. The lens material is removed from the holder and its cavity filled with wax. Side A of the lens material (1) is then inserted in the holder (2) and centred. Side B is worked to create the lens surface. The lens is then removed and separated from the lens material.
