Device for mounting a lamppost using the truncated section of an existing tubular pole as mounting base. The material thickness of older tubular metal poles may vary, necessitating time-consuming adjustment and resulting in poor stability. In addition, existing cables and terminals are difficult to install. All of these factors require time-consuming and expensive work. The lamellar cylinder consists of a mounting device (1) with a centre hole for tapered sleeves and bolts. The device may be provided with bolt holes (13) to suit a pole with a baseplate (14). A number of angled flat bars (2) are attached to the mounting plate (1) in a cylindrical configuration. The flat bars (2) are angled (3) at the underside of the mounting device (1) to afford maximum stability. The upper section of each flat bar is provided with a shoulder (4) for seating and installing the bars in the pole base (12). Two externally tapered sleeves (5, 6), each provided with a central hole (7) for cables, are seated inside the lamellar cylinder. The upper tapered sleeve (5) is provided with three holes (8) for free-fitting bolts, while the lower tapered sleeve (6) is provided with threaded holes (9). Three bolts (10) are used to draw the two tapered sleeves (5, 6) together in the lamellar cylinder (11). The lamellar cylinder (11) expands to fit tightly in the existing pole base (12). The three bolts (10) and the outward-angled flat bars (3) afford maximum expansion of the complete lamellar cylinder (11), making the arrangement extremely stable. All components are made of hot-dip galvanised steel. |
