<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to conduct a low temperature firing operation by a method wherein specific quantity of zinc oxide is used as the main component and a specific quantity of germanium, bismuth and antimony are used as the subcomponent. CONSTITUTION:After mixing the main component of zinc oxide and the subcomponent, consisting at least of germanium of 0.01 to 0.1mol% in terms of GeO2, bismuth of 0.1 to 4.0mol% in terms of Bi2O3, antimony of the ratio with Bi2O3 of (Sb2O3(mol%)/Bi2O3 (mol%) 0.1, have been mixed, the mixture is granulated by adding the organic binder such as PVA, and a disc-like varistor element 1 is formed by applying pressure on the granulated powder. Then, both upper and lower surfaces of the molded body are coated with the electrodes 2a and 2b paste consisting of Ag powder and an organic vehicle, and a firing operation is conducted. As a result, the firing can be performed at a low temperature, and a varistor having excellent characteristics can be obtained.</p> |
