PURPOSE:To provide a new peptide which is a variant of thrombomodulin, has a specific amino acid sequence, acts on coagulation factors in blood, exhibits an inhibiting action against blood coagulation, and is immobilized on the surfaces of medical tools to give the antithrombogenic medical tools. CONSTITUTION:A new peptide is represented by the formula (X, Y each is a single bond, the residue of a single amino acid such as Arg, Lys, Asn, Asp, Gin, Glu, His, Cys, Gly, lie, Pro, Ala or Ser, or a peptide fragment comprising 2-10 residues of the amino acids as constituents; Z is hydroxyl group, amino group), contains two or three Cys units in the peptide, contains the cysteine residues in a smaller amount than that in natural thrombomodulin to enhance the stability of the blood coagulation-inhibiting activity, and can be immobilized on the surfaces of medical tools contacting with blood for a long period to impart an excellent antithrombogenic property to the medical tools. The peptide is synthesized by a solid phase synthetic method using an automatic peptide synthesis device. |
