PURPOSE:To obtain a color filter excellent in matching with ink and adhesion to a protective film by forming a colored part contg. a methylol modified urea- melamine cocondensed compd. or a methylol modified benzoguanamine-melamine cocondensed compd. CONSTITUTION:A layer contg. a curable resin compsn. is formed on a substrate with a formed black matrix. The resin compsn. contains 1-95wt.% methylol modified urea-melamine cocondensed compd. or methylol modified benzoguanamine-melamine cocondensed compd. When an ink receiving layer is formed using the resin compsn. on the substrate, coating is carried out by spin coating, roll coating or other method. A film of a resin material curable by irradiation with light or by heat treatment, or an inorg. film formed by vapor deposition or sputtering may be used as a protective layer.
