PURPOSE:To reduce electric power consumption in an AC type gas discharge display panel. CONSTITUTION:A display electrode 16, a backing dielectric 20 and a wall electric charge accumulating dielectric 18 are arranged in order on one board 12 of boards 12 and 14 opposed to each other through a discharge space 10. The backing dielectric 20 is layered up to a height projecting to the discharge space 10 side more than the display electrode 16. When a dielectric constant of the backing dielectric 20 is reduced, a cell current can be reduced, and a reactive current can be also reduced. When a dielectric constant of the wall electric charge accumulating dielectric 18 is hightened, maximum discharge starting and maintaining voltages can be reduced. |
