THIN-FILM MAGNETIC WRITING HEAD AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE: To minimize the leakage of magnetic fluxes by providing a pole tip structure of a narrow width at an air bearing surface and providing a satisfactorily demarcated zero throat level at the rear part of the pole tip structure. CONSTITUTION: A writing head 52 is provided with a pole tip area 75 positioned between the air bearing surface(ABS) and the zero throat level, and a rear part area including a rear part gap by extending from the zero throat level to the rear part gap on a rear side. A lower part pole tip layer P1 is provided with the pole tip structure positioned in the pole tip area 75 between ABS and the zero throat level. This pole tip structure is provided with an lower part pole tip element PT1a and an upper part pole tip base PT1b. Then an upper part pole tip layer P2 is provided with the pole tip structure positioned in the pole tip area 75 between BAS and the zero throat level.
