PURPOSE:To shorten necessary time for aging by arranging an inductor between a collective connecting terminal of at least one electrode of respective discharge maintaining electrode pairs and an output terminal of AC electric power supply. CONSTITUTION:In aging of an AC type plasma display panel 1, the whole discharge maintaining electrode pairs 12 are collectively connected to AC electric power supply 3, and the whole surface lighting is performed in a constant period. An aging device 2 is composed of the electric power supply 3 and an inductor 4, and when AC voltage is impressed on the electrode pairs 12 through the inductor 4 having a proper inductance, accumulation energy of an initial discharge weakening quantity is released to succeeding discharge, and strengthens this. That is, an aging action in an easily dischargeable part is weakened, and an aging action in a hardly dischargeable part is strengthened, and an almost uniform discharge characteristic can be obtained over the whole display surface in a comparatively short time as a whole. |
