PURPOSE:To produce a lithium niobate single crystal reduced in variation of the Curie point temperature caused by impurities within a specific range in accurate evaluation of the composition of the lithium niobate single crystal by the Curie point temperature. CONSTITUTION:This method for production of a lithium niobate single crystal is carried out by using lithium carbonate having >=99.99% purity and satisfying all the conditions of <=5.0ppm Na, <=2.0ppm K, <=0.5ppm Mg and <=0.9ppm Al and niobium pentoxide having >=99.99% purity and satisfying all the conditions of <=3.0ppm Na, <=1.0ppm K, <=0.5ppm Mg, <=0.9ppm Al and <=3.0ppm Cl respectively separately or in combination and according to the conventional method. |
