PURPOSE:To prevent color mixing among discharge port groups from being caused by preventing ink wiped off at the time of wiping of a discharge port surface having a plurality of discharge port groups from being run away to the adjoining discharge port group, prevent lowering of image quality by the color mixing from being caused and reduce the consumption of the ink by decreasing a number of predischarging times. CONSTITUTION:A wiping device wiping and cleaning a discharge port surface 81 possessing a plurality of discharge port groups 33, 34, 35, 36 is formed of two sheets of wipers arranged into 'sideways V-shaped type' at every discharge port groups each and in the discharge port groups each, the discharge port surface 81 is wiped off by the two sheets of the wipers in the direction facing on the central part from both ends of the discharge port groups. |
