Water submersible microphone

A water submersible microphone is disclosed. The microphone comprises a housing and a microphone transducer. The transducer includes a diaphragm and a charged plate. The transducer extends across the housing and defines a front volume and a back volume within the housing. A first sound entry port extends through the housing in acoustical communication with the front volume. A barometric relief port extends through the housing in communication with the back volume. A porous PTFE membrane covers the barometric relief port for permitting air to enter and exit the back volume but preventing water from entering and exiting the back volume.
