PURPOSE:To generate a detailed smooth recording image by using a digital filter so as to apply smoothing processing to a corrected gradation curve when a discontinuous gap is formed in the case of digital display of the corrected gradation curve. CONSTITUTION:A corrected gradation curve characteristic conversion processing is implemented to apply characteristic conversion processing to a corrected gradation curve and a digital filter in use is selected by the operation of an operation section. Then the selected digital filter is used to apply smoothing processing to the corrected gradation curve. Thus, number of gradation jump of output gradation is reduced by comparing a conversion table giving a corrected gradation curve E2 before smoothing processing with a conversion table giving a corrected gradation curve E3 after smoothing. Furthermore, When the digital filtering is more intensified, smoothing processing is applied to the corrected gradation curve with a larger spatial period and a conversion table providing a characteristic conversion gradation curve E4 is obtained. Thus, the jump gradation number in an output gradation is further reduced. |
