PURPOSE:To provide a position detecting method by image recognition with versatility applicable to an object of arbitrary shape and capable of performing fast processing and with high anti-noise property. CONSTITUTION:It is judged whether an image contour point detected by scan is detected or undetected by overlay memory which stores a detected image contour point G, and contour line tracking H is started setting an undetected image contour point G as a start point, and the next image contour point is detected by making access a binary image based on the sequence of retrieval direction of an image contour point retrieval direction number table classified by every arrival direction number to a reference point, and the present contour line tracking is completed by detecting a contour line tracking completion point by the overlay memory, and the scan is continued from a point next to the start point, and an outside image contour line I, and the contour lines D, E, and F in the inside of the image are detected, and the feature point of a detected contour line is detected, then, shape collation is performed and a position can be detected by using the accumulated arithmetic results of distance/ angle between those feature points. |
