PURPOSE:To decrease the applying amt. of a release agent to coat, to improve durability of a fixing roller and to prevent contamination of the roller surface with toner by forming an elastic layer coated with a fluorocarbon resin layer on each surface of fixing rollers which rotate in contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:The fixing device 14 has a pair of fixing rollers 15 and 16 which are in contact with each other and rotate and a recording medium is made to pass through between rollers 15 and 16 to fix a toner image on the recording medium. Further, a roller 18 to apply a release agent is used in contact with the fixing roller 15. The fixing rollers 15 and 16 consist of core metals 19 each coated with an silicon rubber elastic layer 20. Further, the surface of the elastic layer 20 is coated with a fluorocarbon resin layer 21. Further, a heater 22 is arranged inside the core metal 19 of the fixing roller 15. By using the fluorocarbon resin layer 21, the applying amt. of the release agent can be decreased and durability of the fixing roller is improved. For example, the decrease in light transmissivity of a color image on an OHP sheet can be prevented. Even when a toner image is formed on the back surface of a recording medium, the contamination of the fixing roller with the toner can be prevented. |
