PURPOSE: To provide a picture without the deterioration of a true feeling while a video signal for a 4:3 screen is generated into the size of a 16:9 screen by maintaining an actual picture form in a center part and enlarging and displaying the right/left parts of the screen. CONSTITUTION: A composite video signal DCVS1 outputted from a video switching part is inputted to a series video processing part 2 through an A/D converter 1. A timing generation part 3 is synchronized with a horizontal blanking pulse HBP and generates a timing pulse T2 corresponding to the compression screen of a timing pulse T1, 5:4 corresponding to the enlargement screen of 16:9 and a timing pulse T3 selecting and outputting T1 or T2. Thus, CVS1 which is read by T1 constitutes the right/left enlargement screens of 16:9. CVS1 which is read by T2 constitutes the compression screen of 5:4 at the center part. Thus, a panoramic screen without the deterioration of the true feeling can be obtained. |
