<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method of manufacturing a piezo-sensor package or a piezo-actuator package which is more easily embedded or laminated in composite structures, such as laminated graphite structural member. CONSTITUTION: A ceramic actuator/sensor 10 provided with bonded lead wires 16 and 18 is encapsulated in a non-conductive fiber composite material, such as fiberglass cloth and epoxy, thereby forming a package precured at a room temperatures. Since the thermal coefficient of expansion of a encapsulating material 20 is selected so that it may stay between the thermal coefficient of expansion of a ceramic and a graphite epoxy material, sealing assures insulation and favorable stress transmission and protects against mechanical damage. Fiberglass is added to the package and arranged so that voltage and distortion characteristic may be improved.</p> |
