SEMICONDUCTOR OPTICAL COUPLER

PURPOSE:To provide the semiconductor optical coupler which is decreased in the number of components and the number of optical adjustment places, low in cost and superior in assembling performance, and durable to long-period use as to a semiconductor optical coupler which optically couples a semiconductor light emitting element and an optical fiber with each other through a coupling lens. CONSTITUTION:An LD 1 is mounted on the top surface of a stem 4 at a specific position. An aspherical lens 5 is molded integrally with a projection part 6 in a pipe 7. The pipe 7 fitted with the aspherical lens 5 is installed on the top surface of the stem 4 so that the light incidence side of the lens 5 faces the LD 1. An optical fiber 10 is held and fixed to a metallic member consisting of a ferrule 9 and a ferrule guide 11 is installed on an end surface of the pipe 7 so that the optical fiber tip 12 faces the light projection side of the lens 5.
