PURPOSE:To prevent toner from being scattered from a toner carrying means by releasing the engagement of a gear provided on a toner supplying device and preventing the rotation of an auger at the time of attaching/detaching the top end part of the toner carrying means to/from a developing device. CONSTITUTION:When a toner supplying path 9 as the toner carrying means is turned in the direction of +X, since a gear 5 is stopped and the notched part 203 of a gear holding member 20 is engaged with a projecting part 91 on the toner supplying path 9, a gear 6 rotates in the direction of +X while revolving. The rotational direction of the gear 5 in a normal operating state and the moving direction +X of the toner supplying path 9 are set in the same direction so that the gear 6 engaged with the gear 5 in a stopped state is rotated in the direction opposite to the rotational direction in a normal use state, following the movement in the direction of +X of the toner supplying path 9. Thus, the auger in the toner supplying path 9 driven by gears 7 and 8 engaged with the gear 6 and the gear 8 is reversely rotated as well and the toner is brought back in the direction opposite to the carrying direction. |
