METHOD FOR IMPROVEMENT OF IMAGE CONTRAST

PURPOSE: To provide a method for improving the contrast of a picture and improving the appearance of the picture. CONSTITUTION: A natural scenery picture defined by RGB color space is sent to a color space converter 12 at first and RGB signals are converted into color space selected for an improvement processing. The output of the color space converter 12 is processed by, an automatic picture improving device 14 containing a histogram processing. The device 14 generates a signal for driving the TRC (gradation reproduction curve) controller 16 of an output device such as a printer 18. The TRC controller 16 sends processed data to an arbitrary output buffer 20 for next transfer to the printer 18 or the other output device.
