PURPOSE:To improve the wokability by processing the terminal by applying an adhesive to the terminal of the optical fiber in a spherical shape and setting the adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The jacket 7c nearby the terminal of the optical fiber 7 is removed by specific length, the exposed clad 7b and core 7a inside it are trued up and cut nearby the end surface, and then the adhesive 9 (having a refractive index nearly equal to the refractive index of the core 7a) is applied to the obtained cut surfaces of the clad 7b and core 7a and the clad outer peripheral edge nearby the cut surface in the spherical shape and then set. The end surface of the optical fiber may be cut while covered with the jacket 7c, and the adhesive 9 may be applied to the end surfaces and the outer peripheral edge nearby them in the spherical shape and set. Reflected light Lc generated at a point P on the spherical surface is dispersed to the outside through the clad 7b. Namely, the reflected light Lc is not reflected repeatedly by the interface between the core 7a and clad 7b like incident light La, and no return light is generated. |
