PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device by reducing a detection part and an electrical circuit by converting one cycle or more biphase analog signals per rotation and biphase analog signals with 180-degree phase different from them to one- rotation absolute data. CONSTITUTION:One cycle or more biphase analog signals 2<0>a an 2<0>a' per rotation output from an original signal output part 11 and biphase analog signals 2<0>b and 2<0>b' with 180-phase difference from them are changed to numeric values by a decode circuit 12, are subjected to operation and are converted to one- rotation absolute data, and are input to an one-rotation absolute counter 14. Input of one-rotation absolute data to the counter 14 and counting of incremental signals A and B phases are switched by a signal (A) of a power supply ON/OFF detection circuit 16. Further, the data of the counter 14 and the count value according to a multiple-rotation counter 15 are converted 18 to serial data together and are transferred to system side, thus reducing the number of bits of absolute signal within one rotation and hence miniaturizing an encoder. |
