PURPOSE:To surely generate a musical sound with a proper pitch by converting pitch information into pitch data corresponding to the pitch range of a musical sound that can be generated by a musical sound generating means when the pitch information indicates a pitch that can not be generated by the musical instrument. CONSTITUTION:This electronic musical instrument is equipped with a data memory 12, a data read circuit 14, a pitch data converting circuit 22, a musical sound signal generating circuit 26, a timbre data converting circuit 32, and an effect data converting circuit 36. The pitch information which is supplied from outside and indicates a pitch is inputted and when the inputted pitch information indicates the pitch that can not be generated by the musical sound signal generating circuit 26, the information is converted into the pitch data corresponding to the pitch range of a musical sound that can be generated and supplied to the musical sound generating circuit 26. When the inputted pitch information indicates a pitch that can be generated by the musical sound signal generating circuit 26, the pitch information is supplied as the pitch data without being converted. |
