<p>PURPOSE: To set motion detection to be precise, to eliminate the deterioration of a picture owing to erroneous detection, to reduce hardware quantity and to use efficiently a frame memory by obtaining correlation information to various directions in a space superior in motion detection ability. CONSTITUTION: A sample signal from a memory part 10 is applied to a space information extraction/encoding part 20. Subtraction quantity between picture elements is obtained by using the inputted sample signal. The value is compared with a reference value which is set and a correlation degree to the various directions on the space is detected. It is encoded into an appropriate bit and is outputted. A frame memory 30 is connected to the output end of an encoding part before extraction 20 and space correlation information encoded in the extraction/encoding part 20 is stored. Stored space correlation information and correlation information on the previous frame, which is outputted from the frame memory 30, are applied to a comparison part 40. The output signal of the encoding part 20 is compared with a signal from the memory 30. A motion signal showing a motion area or a stop area is outputted.</p> |
