The system has an intelligent telephone terminal which includes a microprocessor (1) and a modem (11) enabling connection via the telephone network to a remote management system. It also includes an EPROM memory (2) and a RAM memory for information storage (3), a memory card reader (8) and multi-key keyboard (7). The unit is intended to keep track of visitors to a particular person's house. Users must provide a card which is read by the card reader in order to identify the user. The date and arrival and departure times are recorded, along with the identity of the user. This information may be transmitted to a central management system.
