PURPOSE:To reduce losses generated in main circuit elements by a method wherein general purpose series switching circuits which are composed of series- connected reverse-parallel circuits of switching devices and diodes and a center- tapped transformer are employed. CONSTITUTION:Switching arms which are reverse-parallel circuits of switching devices (Tr) S1-S2 and diodes D1-D2 are connected in series to compose series switching circuits 11 and 12. A single-phase bridge circuit 1 is composed of the two series switching circuits 11 and 12 connected in parallel. A snubber circuit 3 is connected between one of the parallel connection points of the single- phase bridge circuit 1 and the other connection point. The positive pole P of a DC power supply is connected to the one of the parallel connection points. One of the terminals of a center-tapped transformer 2 is connected to the series connection point of the series switching circuit 11. The other terminal of the center-tapped transformer 2 is connected to the series connection point of the series switching circuit 12. Further, the negative pole N of the DC power supply is connected to the center tap 0 of the transformer 2. An AC power is generated by turning on the Tr S1 and the Tr S3 and the energy is discharged by turning on the Tr S2 and the Tr S4. |
