摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a reflection type liquid crystal display device having a good contrast by using a specific light reflection member. CONSTITUTION:The one surface of a glass substrate 51 is spin coated with a resist layer 52 and after this layer is prebaked, a photomask 53 formed with prescribed patterns is arranged thereon and is subjected to exposing and developing by a developer, by which fine ruggedness is formed on the surface of the glass substrate 51. The ruggedness having a smooth shape is formed when the ruggedness on the glass substrate 51 is heat treated. Further, the surface of the glass substrate 51 formed with the rugged parts is spin coated with a polyimide resin as an org. insulating film 54. A metallic thin film 55 is further formed on this org. insulating film 54. The light reflection member formed in such a manner is so selected that the degree V of polarization expressed by equation of reflected light by a light reflection member is at least >=50%. In the equation, S1 is the horizontal linearly polarized light component, S2 is a 45 deg. linearly polarized light component, S3 is a right-hand circularly polarized light component and S0 is light intensity.
