<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a computing amount, to prevent the possibility of erroneous detection due to phase deviation and further to improve detection accuracy at the time of detecting a motion vector by a block matching method. CONSTITUTION:The representative picture element value x1 of the reference block of (3X3) picture elements is extracted in a representative value extraction circuit 7a and the maximum value and minimum value of the inspection block of the same size are detected in a MAX2 and MIN2 detection circuit 8a. Whether or not the representative picture element value x1 is present within the range of the MAX2 and the MIN2 is compared in a comparator circuit 9a and an evaluation value DELTAa corresponding to the compared result is calculated in an evaluation value calculation circuit 10a. When the x. is present between the MAX2 and the MIN2, the DELTAa is defined as '0'. It is forward direction collation. The representative picture element value xb of the inspection block and the MAX1 and MIN1 of the reference block are used and the evaluation value DELTAb of reverse direction collation is similarly formed. Based on a general evaluation value formed from the DELTAa and the DELTAb, the motion vector is detected.</p> |
