The invention relates to a cast valve housing and a method for its manufacture. The valve housing has a perpendicular flange (3) constituting an attachment for a pillar set, which exhibits means for the displacement of a slide (2). A recess (8) is provided in the flange for a packing (9) around the slide (2), and a gland (10) is so arranged as to be applied against the packing (9). The flange (3) has projecting parts (11, 13) which have been plane-machined to produce surfaces perpendicular to the plane of the slide. Applied to these surfaces is at least one plane plate (15) executed with threaded holes perpendicular to the plate. The gland (10) is so arranged as to be pressed against the packing (9) by means of gland bolts (17) interacting with the aforementioned holes. According to the method in accordance with the invention for manufacturing a slide valve housing, the flange (3) is provided at the time of casting with projecting parts (11, 13, 12, 14). Of these, at least some are plane-machined to provided external surfaces in a common plane perpendicular to the slide plane. This plane-machining and plane-machining parallel with the slide plane are executed in one and the same jig arrangement by performing the first milling operation with a face milling cutter (20) and the second milling operation with an end milling cutter (21). |
