<p>A transmission (10) comprising: an input annulus (22) and a first bevel gear (30) integrally attached to an input shaft (12); a sun gear (26) rotatably mounted about the input shaft; planetary gears (28) in meshing engagement with the sun gear and the input annulus; the sun gear including a second bevel gear (26a) fixedly attached to the side of the sun gear and substantially coaxially oriented with the sun gear and the first bevel gear; and at least one torque-varying gear member (34) comprising a torque-combining bevel gear (36) and a torque-delivering gear (38) integrally intercoupled by a stub shaft (40). The torque-combining bevel gear simultaneously meshes with the first and second bevel gears, and the torque-delivering gear meshes with an output gear (24) integrally attached to output shaft means (14).</p> |
